3 automations that saved me this week: Part I
They really don't teach about this stuff in art school.
The past few weeks have been busier than… the last three months.
People are finally waking up from their winter fog and craving a freshness of new new new, color color color, however it presents itself on their tailored flavor of the algorithm.
So with this busyness comes the ever-crumbling tower of to-do’s. Y’all know I love making a to-do list every morning, physically annihilating each task with a black pen once it’s behind me. But sometimes it feels like there’s 100 things and only one little ol’ me and I’m absolutely sure I’m not getting the same amount of hours in a day that God is granting Beyoncé.
On my list is something I drag my feet to do 2x every week: Buy groceries.
I cannot stand doing this, no matter how busy or not the day is, even though I buy the same exact thing every single time, give or take. This week, I headed to my grocer’s site, hit the reorder tab and filled my cart quickly with the usual. The dreaded task took all of 15 minutes and my provisions were ready in a few hours. I usually save 30 minutes by not going to the store (therefore adding 30 minutes to my studio time) and dodge enduring small talk with people who think they know me better than they actually do.
Win-win.
If we can automate things in our daily lives, we need to be automating as much as possible in our art businesses, too. Time is money and the more time we can create to paint and experiment, the better. That time will pay dividends in the future. That time to create is how we get better as artists… and make money.
We don’t need to do it all when it comes to the to-do’s in our daily lives.
The perfectionist in us just thinks they need to (me, nodding along and frowning).
STANDOUT AUTOMATIONS FOR MY ART BUSINESS/SANITY, THIS WEEK
(but really, these shine all of the time… you need these in your life!)
